what the pros think you need this holiday...

Nov 4, 2011

we asked our pro artists what stila products they thought made perfect holiday gifts.  read below if you need ideas for that special someone!

sulema. the dream in full color palette is a dream palette for any artist or an aficionado of makeup - every color in the spectrum, shimmers, mattes, and the perfect black liner to compliment it.  the best part - only 39 bucks!!!  love it!

christine. illuminating tinted moisturizer is the perfect product for holiday parties and a great way to brighten dull skin - perfect during the winter in canada when your skin gets pale. this product is great to use in various ways - mix with foundation, wear alone, or use as a highlighter.

francesca.  the best gift i could ever get from stila would be illuminating powder foundation to illuminate me, brighten & correct to conceal me, petunia convertible color to brighten me up, kitten eye shadow and yumberry crush for a pop of holiday cheer - all wrapped up in a pretty bow!!!

ginger.  i stock up on the holiday lip glaze set at christmastime and break them apart to give to friends, teachers, neighbors, family, everyone!  they make great stocking stuffers and the limited edition colors are so pretty.  the lip glaze is also rich in vitamin e, which is a major must in colorado!

dominick. my favorite holiday gift is stila sun - especially during the winter holiday season when i feel a little pale.  it gives the right amount of color without looking orange.  my favorite part is that it brightens my skin without looking like i took a dive into the 70's disco pool.  it's a perfect gift for anyone.

lidia. the sparkle eyeliners are unexpectedly beautiful from subtle sexy shimmer to dazzling jewel tones.  they are the perfect festive gift that will bring a twinkle to anyone's eyes!

stephanie. i LOVE lover on my lips and gladiola on my cheeks.  it's the perfect holiday look and i've started rocking it already.  the red is oh-so-hydrating for the blustery pittsburgh days.  and gladiola is a beautiful neutral to compliment this red lip look.

jason. everyone needs stila's stay all day liquid eyeliner.  it's a beauty enhancement.

charles.  kitten glitter eyeliner is the perfect gift to add glitz and glamour to any girl's look.  this adds the right amount of shimmer in a soft, romantic light.  beautiful!

david.  my favorite product to gift for the holidays is kitten all over shimmer duo.  when you are feeling lackluster, it provides the perfect pick me up.  i love using it to add a soft glow to the cheekbones and eyes.  plus when you pair it with illuminating tinted moisturizer it gives you that glowing goodness skin.

starr. everyone needs illuminating tinted moisturizer, sparkle liquid eyeliner, kitten silk shimmer gloss, and glamoureyes mascara - all wrapped up in a small lil' stock for holiday stila style!

tracy. custom color coral is what i recommend to everyone.  it is just enough shimmer to brighten up your holiday look and the color goes with everything.  i love the soft, youthful finish.

happy shopping!!!  xoxo, stila

color wheel inspiration - 60's psychedelic art and true artists

Dec 16, 2010

the holiday season is in full swing and there are limited days left to purchase a color wheel for yourself or someone you love.  in the spirit of giving, we thought we’d share with our beloved fans the true inspiration that went into the making of this palette.  if anything, it will make this palette more real to you – definitely more than an amazing deal (37 shadows for $30!).  jill tomandl, stila’s vp of packaging and product development recently explained that...

“the holiday collection was inspired by the color wheel, 60’s psychedelic art and true artists who create their own unique vision.”

a huge inspiration behind the color wheel was 60’s rock poster art.  as you can tell from the posters below, these posters are not only fun and colorful, but also sure to inspire anyone wanting to be artistic themselves.

the joshua light show (joshualightshow.com) was another inspiration in particular for the color wheel.   to us, this is true art and we are particularly inspired by the multi-media projections at live concert venues like these seen below:

lastly, the color wheel and our "W" ad had a huge fashion emphasis.  specifically, beetle from sine and die inspired us (beetle.carbonmade.com).  she is a custom fashion designer, and each of her garments is a work of art created from hand dyed silk and custom stitching.  evidence of her work and inspiration can be seen in the color wheel, the color wheel stila girl, and the "W" ad.

we wish you the best holiday season and hope you are enjoying your holiday color wheels as much as we are.  in honor of this unique cosmetic gift, enjoy this quote.

“when an artist is more concerned with what is said than how it is said, there is no art.” – anonymous
